The sign asked that
women dress modestly
Government employees of the town of Beit Shemesh, arrived to remove a sign, erected by the religious inhabitants of the town on private property. The sign called for the ladies arriving to shop at the mall, to be dressed modestly in accordance with the rules of the Torah. Signs of this nature, are displayed in many other Orthodox Jewish neighborhoods throughout the world. In this case this sign has been displayed for some years. The town officials sent the workers to remove the sign due to a flimsy technical excuse. The true reason for the removal of the sign, is obvious and transparently clear. It is another act in the attempt to destroy and uproot religion from the Holy Land. The present timing was to intimidate the anti Zionist movement, which has recently enjoyed a tremendously large upsurge. Eventually, the town workers left without removing the sign due to a spontaneous protest of hundreds of people.

The sign read: women passing through our neighborhood, are requested to respect the feelings of our residents, to be dressed modestly. Modest dress includes: non plunging necklines, long sleeves, long skirts and no tight fitting clothing. Signed by: Rabbis of the neighborhood, institutions of schooling and charity, and the residents.

Seventy or eighty Special Forces of the police, known as "Yassam", arrived to watch the town workers of Beit Shemesh remove the sign.
The Beit Shemesh community which is almost entirely religious organized a protest. During the demonstration the police brutally attacked the peaceful protesters.
Beit Shemesh Police Chief Oz Eliasi, came to the arrest house in Beit Shemesh. One of the officers demanded that the arrestees stand up. Rabbi Moshe Leib Friedman and some others, refused to do so. Eliasi, with a smile on his face, in front of at least twenty people, called out "Step aside--I will teach you how to act!"
He went over to Rabbi Moishe Lieb Friedman and started to punch him on his head, for a few minutes, until Rabbi Friedman lost his balance and collapsed on the ground. Two police officers tried to stand him up, but he could not stand on his feet, because he was almost unconscious. No medical help was sent to help Rabbi Friedman. Rabbi Friedman was left lying in his cell for three days not knowing whether it was day or night and not knowing where he was. On Saturday, he regained consciousness on his own. On Sunday, his face was black and blue because of internal bleeding inside his head.

Rabbi Daniel Biton, a dean of a Rabbinical college and officiating Rabbi of a local synagogue, was badly beaten and was hospitalized with several breaks of his left foot. A week later he had an operation and had ten metal pins installed in his foot in order to repair it. At the same time, five other Orthodox Rabbis were arrested. Their crime was for peaceably crying out, from the depths of their heart, for being prevented from protecting the sanctity and holiness of the Holy Land in their own deeply religious neighborhood. Those five people were badly beaten and taken to the arrest holding area in Beit Shemesh. In the evening they were transferred into a temporary jail at Migrash Harusim -- Russian Compound in the old city of Jerusalem.

Leading Rabbis gathered for mass prayer
All the leading Orthodox Rabbis of the entire community, in the religious Jewish town of Beit Shemesh, have gathered for mass prayer. At the end of the prayer session, they replaced the sign which had been standing for four years, that was removed by the town workers, with an even larger sign.

Police punished the whole town for putting back the sign, by blocking all the streets of the whole town of Beit Shemesh. They even did not allow buses, carrying young school children returning home from school, to pass. The children, as well as many others were not able to return home.

Chief [anti Zionist] Rabbi of Jerusalem, Rabbi Tovia Weiss, was blocked by the police and prevented from visiting the arrested people.This was an extreme step that the police took, in order to show their disrespect and power over the religious anti Zionist Jewish community. Never in the history of Jerusalem was a Cheif Rabbi refused permission to visit people who have been arrested.

Three of the arrested people, have been transferred from the arrest house in Jerusalem Migrash Harusim - Russian Compound, to a temporary holding facility in Ma'asiyahu in the town of Ramlah, until it is decided where they will be sent.
Those three people, have been forced to sleep overnight with handcuffs on their wrists and manacles on their ankles, in a dirty storage room with rats and many other vermin running around.

The three arrested people were transferred from Ma'asiyahu in the town of Ramlah. They have been transferred to the town of Ashkelon, to a terrible prison. The prison is for murderers and people who have committed violent crimes. No kosher food was allowed to be given to the arrested people. Because the three arrested people were refused Kosher food, they did not eat for several days, nor did they receive any food while in the town of Ramlah, therefore they became very weak.

One of the arrested people, Rabbi Joel Simon collapsed. A doctor was sent to him. When examining Rabbi Simon, the doctor found very low blood pressure which could have caused his death, G-d forbid. Still no food was allowed to be brought to him from the outside, only non-Kosher food.

Over one thousand people gathered for a mass demonstration, crying for the United Nations to take over control of the Jerusalem Orthodox Community and Jerusalem should stay international since the Zionist state does not let the Orthodox Jews practice Judaism’s religious rules.

The demonstration was led by the judges of the High Court of the Orthodox anti Zionist Edah Hacharedis in Jerusalem. Representatives of the majority of the communities of Jerusalem, representing all the different types of practicing Jews, Chasidic, Ashkanezic, Sefardic etc. gathered to join in the protest. All came together to cry out against the brutality of the state of Israel, against the practicing of the Jewish religion.
This mass protest was held in light of five Rabbis being held in jail at Askalon, a jail which is used to hold murderers and other low-life people. They are being held there, in very deplorable conditions. Three of the High Court Rabbis have spoken. Every one of them pointed out that the way the Israeli Government with their police are treating them, makes it impossible for them to be able to practice their religion, G-d forbid. Therefore, they are crying out to the world "all nations should arise and protect Judaism and the Orthodox people who are trying to practice their religion."
At the end of the demonstration, more than five hundred people, peacefully marched in the streets of Jerusalem. Although the march was non-violent, three people were arrested and are being held in jail.

The law enforcement of the town of Jerusalem, which is a part of the Israeli government, punished the Orthodox Jewish neighborhoods, for protesting the brutality against the Orthodox people. They have punished them by preventing bus services. Since 7pm no city buses were allowed to go into that Orthodox neighborhood.
